Morocco and Sweden’s new era
It is clearly under the sign of a new virtuous circle that Morocco and Sweden intend to register their bilateral relations, in a mark of the commitment of HM King Mohammed VI to promote the steady development of cooperation ties between the Kingdom with this important European partner. In a message to King Carl Gustav of Sweden, on the occasion of the National Day of his country, the Sovereign expressed “His strong determination to make every effort to enable governments of both countries to carry on joint action to consolidate and expanding these relationships to encompass different areas, both bilaterally and in the context of advanced Status between Morocco to the European Union, serving the common interests of the two friendly peoples. ” Political, economic or security, Rabat and Stockholm clearly reflect this desire to move forward on “good foundation” began in the beginning of the current year with the need to constantly keep open channels of dialogue and consultation on all issues. The decision of the Swedish government not to recognize the pseudo “SADR” and rally to the consistent position of the Nordic countries for a mutually negotiated solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, has indeed to overcome a diplomatic row that at one point, has tested relations with Morocco, an important partner in Africa and the Arab world.
Welcoming the efforts undertaken by the Kingdom under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI on comprehensive structural reforms, the Swedish Sovereign held to highlight the ability of the Kingdom to maintain its stability and development process a region full tub.
From the point of view of Stockholm, Morocco is definitely a haven of stability and a country that effectively contributes to the fight against extremism and terrorism alongside its partners, particularly in Europe. It is seen also as a hub and a springboard for Swedish exports in Africa through a geographical proximity to European markets, a strong potential for development and modern infrastructure.
Like many European countries, the Scandinavian kingdom intends, moreover, benefit from the Moroccan experience in the fight against various forms of extremism and terrorism and approach, hailed worldwide for promoting the values of dialogue, tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Under the leadership of the Sovereign, the Kingdom has established itself as a country that has made the opening of its economy an irreversible strategic choice, accompanied by courageous political, and economic and profound social reforms, backed a choice advanced regionalization to ensure an inclusive and balanced territorial development.
